School Memories

We are on our last 3 days of school. Our last day here with the kids is on Wednesday.  Today, we started on our End of Year School Memory book that Crystal and I made up for us to do at the end of the year.  The kids got with a partner and worked together on the pages.  I told them that they may have different answers on their pages, but to talk about what they were going to put on each page.  For example, one page says "The best time was when......"  They got to talk about what their best time in first grade was and then draw a picture of it and write about it.  We didn't get them finished today because it is a longer book so we will work some more on them tomorrow.  Here are some of them:

So sweet!!!

If you read Crystal's last blog....she is actually done with school now.  I will have to say that a few times today I was thinking....she is probably resting on her couch right now and maybe even taking a nap.  The nap is what I'm looking forward to when we get out of school.  :-)

Have a great day!

2 more days!

Well, we are down to the last 2 days with kids.  I'm like Crystal, as the kids are leaving, I will have tears.  I am always ready for summer break just because I am so exhausted and ready to have some time to rest.  But, as those kids walk out of your room for the last time, I get teary eyed because they have become such a part of me.  :-(

We have been doing the balloon motivation (Crystal blogged about it earlier) the last 10 days.  The idea came from Erin over at First with Franklin.  It is amazing how excited the kids get over the littlest things.  This is what we have done so far:
1.  Ink Pen day-they got to write with an ink pen all day
2.  Extra Recess
3.  Nature Walk-we gave them some magnifying glasses and let them find stuff in nature
4.  Bubble gum day-they got to chew bubble gum
5.  Art day-we did art for about 1 hour
6.  Mystery Reader-they got to get with the other first grade class and read with them
7.  Rearrange the room with your desks any way that you want for the day
8.  First graders are so bright, they have to wear shades (we did this one on the day we went to the zoo for our field trip).  We bought them some sunglasses from the Dollar General and gave them to them to wear that day.

The last 2 this week:
9.  Eat lunch with the teacher
10.  Movie Day

Here are some photos of our nature walk:

This week we are going to do our end of the year book:

What all do you do on the last couple of days of school?  I have always wondered what others do the last couple of days.

Hope you have a great week!

School Memory Book

So I have been missing my co-teacher the last couple days. Kristi had a little mishap this weekend that required her to be laid up for a couple of days. Praise the Lord she is coming back tomorrow - though I think her doctor would rather her continue to take it easy! Her kiddos have definitely been pushing things little angels in her absence. And I've been getting a ton of work done because we have not been running to the other's room to chat collaborate during our plan time. It is just not normal and I miss her! :-)

The good news is that while Kristi was laid up, she worked on a great School Memory Book and posted it on TPT. We do one of these every year and the kids just love them. Head on over there and check it out.

Counting down the days - 12 more to go (with kids - 14 total)!

Kristi and I are both trying to continue with as much normalcy as possible and plunge ahead in our lessons, but so many things are popping up to mess up our schedules. What about you? Still in the routine? Or busting out and letting loose? Ha ha!

Have a great evening!

Crystal
