More Sight Word Fun!

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving!  We started back in school today after our break.  I introduced the kids to Match Mine (Kagan Cooperative Learning Strategy) with our sight words this week.  The kids loved it!  

In match mine you have the students pair up and each student gets a paper with drawings or symbols on it. They put up a folder between them so they can't see each others paper. One student starts and they gave the other student directions on where to put a sight word.  For example:  I had 2 rows of circles and one would say put the word people (sight word) on the first circle on the first row.  Once they had placed all the words on their paper, then they removed the folder and checked to see if their papers matched and looked the same.  This not only helped with practicing our sight words but it also worked on following directions and giving directions.  They got really excited when their papers matched.  Here they are:

Good morning! It is bright and early here in sunny Kansas and I have no idea why I am awake. After staying up entirely too late just to finish posting my Robot pack for Monday Made-It, I should still be enjoying the comfort of my bed!

TPT Teacher Appreciation Sale!!!

Teacher Appreciation Week is here! I hope you enjoy some special thanks from your students, parents, and schools this week. We have already been told some of our goodies coming from our wonderful PTO. Can you say MASSAGE? And yummy breakfast?? Sonic drinks???

 

It is nice to know we are appreciated and our parents do a great job of that!

Returning From Spring Break

We are on the last days of our spring break....we start back again on Monday.  Sounds like a lot of you are getting ready to go on spring break.  I was able to see my mom and spend some mother-daughter time with her.  We had a great time (eating, shopping, going to the movies, laughing)!  It's nice to take the time off and spend it with family.

When we return from spring break, Crystal and I are hoping that our boot camps that we did will still be fresh in their little minds. 
 :-)  Our hopes are that they remember all about the place value and counting money.  As a quick review, I plan on having the kiddos play the game that Crystal made on money (I Have Who Has).

More 100 year old pictures and a FREEBIE!!

We celebrated the 100th day on Wednesday and it was a lot of fun, but like Crystal, I was also very exhausted at the end of the day.  The kids looked so cute!  Check out my pics below (sorry the pics didn't capture the full effect-many of the students had grey hair and it didn't show up as well in the pictures). 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our kids have been playing the connect four games in reading for quite some time now and love playing them. What we really like about them is that they are having fun playing them and we don't think they realize that they are learning as well in the process. :-) We have the one we will be using this week in reading and we are making it FREE!
