HURRY and check it out!
On to another note, desk arrangement. I admit I am one that likes the rows still and only on certain days have been able to handle the kids in little groups with their desks. This coming year, I will have a much bigger class size and am looking at ways to arrange my desks. I found this interesting information on desk arrangement:
So, I'm curious on how you arrange your desks and how does it work out for you?
Thanks!
Kristi
I'm going to have to check that out! I like the different arrangements!! :)

Yes, I thought they had some neat arrangements as well. Just not sure which may be better.
ReplyDeleteI am still playing around with the arrangement for this year. I usually like the kids in groups, but it DOES lend to a ton o'talking! I'm thinking about starting them this year in pairs, much like the top right arrangement you pictured. I'm just starting up my own blog and getting ready to post photos of my classroom. I'd love it if you stop by some time and say "hi!"

I checked out your blog and am your newest follower! Can't wait to see pics of your classroom.
ReplyDeleteInteresting article, Kristi. Maybe we are not so off with our rows - HA!
ReplyDeleteLet me chime in here:
My desks are usually in rows - especially at the beginning of the year. On Wednesdays (main story day), I ended up in a horse shoe or square. And usually on Thursdays or Fridays in pairs or groups of 4 for some Kagan activities. I did a lot of desk moving last year!

I'm old school. I like rows. I just find grouping so difficult. I will group them in pairs for math manips and partner activities but most of the time - Rows.
ReplyDeleteI always start with groups so the kids can get to know each other. I move things around as needed! We do a lot of testing with laptops in our room, so the desks usually end up in rows when that happens!
