Daily Math

Summer is officially here for me, but I am already thinking some about next year.  I have done Daily 5 reading for the past few years and really like it.  Last year, I implemented math groups.  For some reason, math groups are just hard for me.  Although, I believe it was really good for the kids, so I'm looking at how I can arrange it next year.  This year I had 3 rotations-1.  Work with teacher  2.  Moby Max on ipads  3.  Seat work.  It was OK, but I'd like to incorporate some more hands on activities but not quite sure how to do it and/or organize it.  So, anyone who is doing math groups and rotations, I'd love to hear what you are doing and how you are doing it.  I look forward to hearing about your math groups!

Have a great day!

Room Setup

Last time I blogged, I told you about all my broken items.  I am glad to say that right now my dishwasher, washer, and computer are all working again!!!   :-)  I did have to break down and order a new cell phone.  I have to wait about a week for it, but I was sure glad to have the majority of things working again!  YAY!
In the meantime, I have been pondering how I will be setting up my classroom this coming year.  I am more of a traditional individual that likes the desks in rows.  Last year, I branched out and changed the seating around a little bit and had more of teams/groups.  I liked that there was a lot more room when they were sitting in teams/groups.  Although, I really like the rows because they are working more independently that way.  As I was looking on pinterest for ideas, I found this neat site:

It has a lot of different ways to set up your classroom.  I'm checking it out and would also love to here how you have set up your classroom and what way has worked the best for you.

Have a great week!

Calling all Decorators!! Group Table and Chairs

Now that we have fully launched our Daily Five, I feel like I am spending more time at my lovely group table and chairs.  What I have is two long tables and I have placed them in an L shape.  Then the chairs we have our the regular student chairs.  I'm really wanting to do something else that may be a little more comfortable in this area since we are spending more time there this year.

I know that some have made chairs out of milk crates and paint buckets.  There are so many creative ideas on these things, so I wanted to see what you have and do you have any ideas on what I can do for tables and chairs?  I'm anxious to make a change in the decor there but am hoping someone has some cool ideas that are affordable.  Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Hope all of you have had a great week!  Kristi
