Wisdom for Wednesday - Let the Lord Work

Hello there! I hope you are having a wonderful week. I'm feeling quite a bit better after being horribly sick the last couple weeks AND the sun has been shining some the last few days. I don't know about you, but this time of year, I get a little antsy for spring!

Let's jump in to this week's bit of wisdom. :-)

I've been going through the Psalm 119 (again) this year. Last year, I was attempting to memorize all 176 verses. I don't mind admitting that I made it into the 80's and started to struggle. I picked it up again, this time focusing on a section at a time, and instead tried to focus on a favorite verse or phrase from each section. A much more attainable goal!

Anyway, my favorite phrase from Psalm 119:121-128...

It is time for thee, LORD, to work...

SURRENDER.

Too often I'm trying to fix things (or people--gasp!) and the Lord just wants room to work. Surrender it all to Him! His work is going to be way better than ours!

Short and sweet. What can I say? ;-)

P.S. If you were wondering, my favorite verse that section is 125.

Fun with Telling Time!

We have been spending a lot of time working on telling time and the kids have gotten really good at the hour and half hour.

When we first looked at the clock, we talked about the hands and I did this neat way of teaching the hands to the kids that came from teachertipster.com

Then we learned this cute little rhyme by teachertipster.com.

After learning the rhyme and practicing with some clocks, we moved to our desks and drew the clock.  Then we used licorice to show various times.  They were excited to do this because they knew that if they worked hard and followed directions, they would get to eat some licorice at the end.

Next, we played our connect four game to practice telling time.

Then, we played our I Have Who Has Game to practice telling time.

Finally, we used played scoot to practice telling time.

The kids are now doing great at telling time and we had fun learning how to tell the time!

Have a great week!

Wisdom for Wednesday-99 Sheep

Welcome back to another week of:

I saw this verse the other day and I just love it.  It really shows how much God loves each one of us.  God cares for each and everyone of us that he would leave 99 other sheep just to come and find the 1 that is lost.  This message is simple, all of the shepherd's sheep were all equally important.  Just like all of God's children are equally important.

Have a great week!

Valentine's Day and some extras!

The kids had their Valentine's Party this last week and had a blast!  I'm not sure what it is about the Valentine's Day parties, but it seems like every year this is the one that the kids tend to get the most excited about.  Here they are:

We decorated bags in class the day before our party.

At the party, they got to decorate sugar cookies.

Lots of treats that included pizza!

They got to make a Valentine's card.

For our extra fun thing, we made fake snow and played with it!

Finally, we practiced our long i words by playing connect four.

Have a great weekend!

Wisdom for Wednesday-Grateful for Everything

Welcome to this week's:

Hmmm...I need to reread this every day.  I know that I am very guilty of trying to get through difficult seasons quickly.  Unfortunately, I believe there will be obstacles in every season that we are on this earth.  So trying to get through these seasons quicker and thinking each one will get better will only wish away our days on this earth.  Instead, I need to remember that everything I do is for God and he has given me something in every season to be grateful for....there may be difficult days that I have to really think about what that may be, but there is always at least one thing to be grateful for in my life.

Have a great day!

Wisdom for Wednesday - Faithfulness

Good morning! I'm glad you stopped in for a little mid-week Wisdom. I know that I always need to refocus mid-week, and this week is no exception. At our basketball game last night, it felt like Friday already if that tells you anything about the week I'm having. Ha!

My own kids (and many at school) have been battling what I'm pretty sure is the flu. Both are on the mend now...I think. Not fun. Not fun at all. So far my husband and I have remained healthy...

Anyway...

I stumbled upon this quote by Jim Berg in his book God is More than Enough

Take a moment and let that sink in, would you? I know I had to... I read it over quickly at first. However, after thinking about it, I realized just how much truth is in that little quote.

We must have a clear picture of God's faithfulness if we are to live the life of faith that God wants from us. We must know God is faithful. We must believe that He can and will carry out the promises He has given us in His Word.

He is faithful to forgive us from our sins. He is faithful to provide an eternal home is heaven. He is faithful to be with us through trials and temptations. He is faithful to guide and direct our steps. He is faithful to watch over us. He is faithful to care for us. He is faithful to keep His promises.

God is faithful!

Berg goes on to say, "God's promises will have little impact upon you if you do not believe He is faithful."

We must believe God is faithful to keep His promises. When we believe that, we can't help but live a life of faith. His faithfulness fuels--drives--our faithfulness. It motivates us to keep trusting, to keep pressing on, to keep moving forward in our walk with Him.

God is faithful!

Greater than, Less than and Equal to

This week, we worked on greater than, less than and equal to in math.  We used pretzels to make our greater than, less than and equal signs.  The kids loved this especially because they got to eat pretzels when they were done.

The first grade classes also got together and we did human greater than, less than and equal to.  We placed a number of kids on each side and 2 students had to come up and make the sign that they would use to complete the problem.

The last activity that we did was playing our connect four greater than, less than and equal to game from TPT.

I hope that wherever you are teaching, you are staying healthy and continue to stay healthy with all of this flu going around.  I saw this the other day and thought how true it was:

Have a great week!
